Kindle DX sleeve - lime green

by Linda C. Jones from Crystal Lake, IL on 2010-06-12
Love it! It makes it so easy to store and carry my kindle dx. I really love the little carrying handle that can be tucked away and zipped up. It seems to protect the kindle dx quite well.

Everything you need to keep your Kindle DX safe

by Charles S. Holzheimer from Centennial, CO on 2009-08-09
The Kindle DX has a huge screen compared to the first 2 generations of Kindles. I suspected that with that big of a screen it might be more vulnerable to being damaged than its littler cousins. Before I tested that hypothesis for too long, I sent off for one of these jackets from M-Edge.

This is not one of the padded leather versions of a protective sleeve. Those are very nice and priced at about twice the cost of this product. I chose the Lime Green version because I wanted to be able to see where my Kindle is with the glance of a room. M-Edge does have this same model in subtler colors if that is what you want.

This neoprene cover is very similar in texture to a scuba suit. Soft and rubbery yet dense. I have no doubt that this sleeve will protect my DX from all but the most horrific of accidents. The double zippered side allows you to leave a gap for the power cord if you want to re-charge the battery while the DX is still in the case. A pocket on the back allows you to store a few things along with the DX. The charger fits in there a little lumpily but at least it and the DX stay in the same place! There is also a pull-out fabric handle along the spine if you wish to carry the DX like a briefcase. I don't use this option but might be handy for others.

If you have Amazon Prime Shipping make sure you check which of these cases are in stock by Amazon and which ones are sent from a different distributor. There are differences even among the colors of this item. Blue ones are sent by Amazon (thus saving you the shipping) but the red ones come right from M-Edge and you have to pay extra. If this is an issue for you, make sure you know which option you select.

A great accessory for the DX and well worth its price!

Kindles for our Troops

March 10, 2010 No comments yet

Just a quick post to let everyone know that Len Edgerly of The Kindle Chronicles weekly podcast (which by the way is excellent) has started a project to help give Kindle eReaders to our troops serving in Afghanistan. M-Edge quickly joined in by donating the first kindle and cover to Sgt. Corbin.

Len is now looking for more donations from the kindle community. This is a very nice gesture and great effort to support our troops. Please take a few moments to read all Len's project, Kindles for Kandadar. Thanks.

HP joins the eReader Party with the Slate

March 9, 2010 No comments yet

HP just announced and posted up a teaser video on YouTube (see below) of their upcoming Color Tablet eReader called the "Slate" with a full color multi-touch screen display. Now we know why Apple didn't call their eerily similar product now known as the iPad the iSlate.

There are a few key differences that HP mentioned on their Facebook Fan Page. One being that the Slate will support Flash content for web browsing. The other is that since Apple has already set the bar for this type of device, HP will need to one-up them either with features, price or both. Speculation reports that it may run Windows apps. HP has been in the tablet PC market for a long time so I believe this will be a quality product to compete with all the big competitors.

So far there is no release date or price set.

Perfect for my Kindle 6"

by B. J. Meck from Lena, WI United States on 2010-07-28
Was hesitant to order because photos made it appear to be larger than what I was looking for. Just got my bag and absolutely love it. Not only fits my Kindle perfectly but room for all accessories, keys, phone, etc. Highly recommend this product for anyone looking for medium sized bag with tons of pockets!! (I could actually use it as a purse, it is so roomy!)

Pretty good bag

by Smart buyer from on 2010-07-27
The quality is great, it feels and looks good. Three observations that need attention. 1) The strap needs to be a little longer, about 10 inches. 2) They need to sew a sturdy handle to the top so you can grab it and go without having to sling it. 3) The top flap needs to extend over the sides so that if there is a load in the bag, rain won't get the top edge of things wet.

Who said a Kindle fits in this special pocket?

The bag itself is great. Workmanship. look, etc. are all fine. My 6" Kindle did not fit. I think Amazon better check these things before making false claims.

I took a chance and purchased it on the chance that my Kindle 1 (the Origional one) would fit. It does perfectly. Before I purchased I read the reviews and a gentleman
said he wished it had a handle as well as the over the shoulder strap. If you shorten the strap (it comes with an adjustable strap that locks to a shorter configuration) it works great as a briefcase. I love it, I put all of my electronic equipment in it and take it everywhere.

Perfect - if overpriced - Kindle Carrier

The Kindle Messenger Bag is a perfect companion for the "Kindle and moleskine" crowd - those who need a bag to carry a few things around town or who need a practical man-purse. The pocket dangles in the middle of the bag, attached to the sides, and fits the Kindle very well (note, however, that if you have a cover on your kindle it can be difficult to fit). Inside organizer panel features a couple of iphone-sized slots, a velcro pocket, and a zipper compartment, and the outside front of the bag has a smaller card pocket with a key leash. The strap is permanently sewn to the bag and has the Timbuk2 cam on one end for easy adjustment - seems like overkill in a bag this small. The strap pad is big and stiff - takes up almost half the strap length - but may become more flexible with use. Lots of velcro for flap closure along with plastic buckles keeps the bag nice and closed. Not sure it's worth the sixty-five dollars I paid for it - much more like a forty-dollar item, but if you are looking for a stylish way to carry your kindle and a few other items, this mini-messenger bag is a great way to do it...
