Accessing your Email on the Kindle 2
One of the most asked questions on the various kindle discussion forums is how to access your email using the Kindle 2's web browser. Using the built-in wireless Whispernet cellular network, accessing email via the Kindle 2 is very convenient when you don't have access to a computer or your smart phone.
The thing to keep in mind is that the Kindle 2 web interface uses a simple mobile browser best suited for text which is great for typical text emails. It is not so great for emails that are heavily formatted with html, graphics or attachments. Still, it works with most of the big "Free" email account providers and paid Internet service providers through their mobile-friendly pages.
Here are the following email providers (that I could test) and the correct URL email access page that will work on your Kindle 2.

Can you be more specific as to how to imput the URL access page. I am on a exchange server. I would love to try to fiqure out how to get the e-mail on the K2. I have a URL address, I just do not know where to imput on the device.

I was able to access my aol mail last week, but I have been trying for two days and I can get to the aol page, but it won’t recognize my screen name or password. What am I doing wrong

I tried again and still can’t get my mail. I have been getting it in 1 out of 10 tries. Some questions – In settings it says that Java is always disabled in basic mode. When I enable Java it still shows that it is in basic mode. I also can’t seem to get to my settings until I am on the web. If I try accessing the settings from the home page, I just get the descriptions of the settings. I am a novice Kindle and computer person, so I am very confused. Do I need to register the Kindle with aol? I am very frustrated.

I tried again and it just doesn’t seem to recognize my screen name or password this is on m.mail.aol.com The site that if keep bringing me to is wap.aol.com/auth/menu……….

Actually http://m.yahoo.com/mail doesn’t work for my kindle 2, luckily I found that http://us.m1.yahoo.com (in basic mode) works perfectly.

This does not seem to work any more. When I click on mail, I get “There was an error encountered in processing your request.” I can get my email through the non-mobile yahoo email browser, but it is very difficult to read on the Kindle. Any updates on this?

I can get to AOL Mail on my recently acquired Kindle 2 thanks to the above-mentioned URL. Now wondering if there is a way to get AOL Radio to work, or is that like asking for the moon??

I was able to access my comcast mail using the website you posted, but there is no logout. How do I logout of my comcast mail from the Kindle?

I found that Hotmail works better with its mobile version, rather than full version from above link.
Mobile version available by just adding/md to end of link above as follows:

Hi Stephen,
You can enter a specific URL once you are in the browser by pressing the Menu button and choosing the “Enter URL” option. Then you can type the desired URL and press down on the 5 way controller to goto the web page.

Ruth, I checked into this and ran into the same problem but was able to fix it. First you will need to go into the browser on your kindle. Next, press the menu button and choose “Settings”. I would suggest clearing your cache and cookies. But the important option is to ‘Enable Javascript’. After that you should be able to check your email. AOL must have changes some things recently. I think you need to switch your settings of the Kindle Browser to the Advanced Mode. Then you can Enable Javascript. There is nothing you have to do with your AOL account. Hope it works for you.

I am having the same problem accessing aol mail. I enabled Javascript and am in advanced mode. It looks like it is signing in, but then it just returns me to signin.

Joyce, I was able to login to AOL mail using the address in my post but only in advanced mode. I tried this the other day and it wasn’t working. Unfortunately, AOL’s mobile mail site is not so easy to navigate and the text is really small on the Kindle.

So,it’s really a “maybe” situation? Actually I got on once last night, but not today. You can increase the size of text on the email site making it MUCH easier to read. we are going to be on an extended vacation and didn’t want to carry a computer, hoping Kindle would be enough. Maybe I’ll investigate netbooks. Thanks for your help. If you discover another solution, please let me know.
