New DecalGirl Designer Skins for Kindle 3

August 28, 2010 No comments yet

DecalGirl has some the the nicest designer skins available for many of the popular eReaders and now they have them for the Kindle 3!! These vinyl skins protect your kindle from minor wear and tear and look great! Skins do not use any adhesive and are easy to apply and remove (see Related Posts link for my video on how to install a skin).

Each design comes in two finishes, high-gloss and matte. I personally prefer the high-gloss because the colors are more vibrant. Check out all the latest designer kindle 3 skins here.

Kindle 3 Covers – Choices Limited for Now

July 31, 2010 1 comment

In case you haven't heard, Amazon has just released the 3rd generation of kindles for your reading pleasure. The is the Wi-Fi only Kindle 3 and the 3GS & Wi-Fi Kindle 3 that are now available for pre-order. As many soon realize, you want to protect your Kindle 3 with a nice cover.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't give other vendors a demo product for design and fitting of their manufactured covers. They have to buy them live everyone else after they are released.  So for now you have a choice of the multi-colored leather covers by Amazon. They come either with or without a reading light. I am not a big fan of the hinged covers so I will wait for either M-edge or Tuff-Luv to come out with their own products.

looks cool & durable, a bit over-priced though

by EW from on 2010-09-07
this item looks pretty cool, and it is NOT that heavy as some folks described. Although I have not received my kindle yet, I can't wait to express my pleasure from just seeing this cool item. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is the price - I'm sure in couple of months when there is more competition, $20-25 would sound like a more reasonable range.

No Surprises

by jen from on 2010-09-07
The color (hot pink) and quality of the cover was as expected. To me, there's nothing worse than getting something that looks nothing like what you thought you ordered. I'm happy with the leather cover. Highly recommended!

Very nice!

by Pen Name from Hoton, MI on 2010-09-07
This is a very nice cover, it looks like the new kindle (late summer 2010 version) will be well-protected. It has little plastic clips to secure the kindle. It has a nice little binder-bungy, similar to the hair-ties that girls/hippies use for ponytails. :) This cover is made from leather, so it feels nice and will last a long time -- I don't expect to ever need another. The price was kind of expensive at $35, but it seemed the best option with respect to the other Amazon.com offerings. Sleeves are not secure, and neoprene materials do not protect against sharp, direct forces or drops. The best option might actually be to just put your kindle in the awesome, minimal packaging that this cover shipped in -- it's like the cardboard version of one of those hidden book inserts. Resell the leather cover to your buddy, and enjoy your brilliance!

Looks great!!

by Rachel Welt from Minneapolis, MN on 2010-09-06
I bought the burgundy red cover (no light) for my white K3 and I really like it. I had a Belkin sleeve cover for my K2 which was fine, but I really liked the look of the leather cover. At first I was concerned about the added weight when reading because I usually read holding my Kindle only, however it really isn't that much heavier. I took my K3 and new cover to an outdoor MN Twins game and I liked the added weight when holding it, I just felt more secure holding it for some reason. At home I do still tend to take it out of the case, which allows me to better admire my new skin, but I haven't noticed a huge difference between reading with or without the cover. I'll probably end up keeping my Belkin sleeve for the K2 because I can fit my new leather cover, Kindle and all, in the sleeve and still zip it shut which might come in handy if I ever wanted to make sure it was packed extremely secure for some reason. Overall impression, I bought the new leather cover because I liked the way it looked and I am very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful cover

This Kindle cover is beautiful, appears very well made and comes in equally well-made packaging. Now all I need is my pre-ordered Kindle to make it perfect ;)

Nice leather cover that makes desk reading simple

by Allen D. Reinecke from South Carolina, USA on 2010-06-02
Just received my nook leather cover. It's nice, it looks great and is ideal for travel! See my images for how the nook fits 1) The cover provides the necessary protection for travel. Around the house, it does bulk up the small and light nook, but the stand feature makes it a great thing at breakfast time to read the days news feeds on the nook while both hands are occupied. The cover provides good protection for the screens and sides, though I am worried that the lower corners are not well protected so if it slipped and fell on one of them, it might be enough to crack the plastic (see the image at the top of the product page). My iPod Touch has a very similar design of cover but the iPod's corners are much better protected as the leather comes much closer to the corner even though it is still open at the corner for fabrication reasons - and I have dropped that several times with no issues! 2) The nook is a nice snug fit, so won't slide around once inserted. The tolerances are very good and the leather edges match well to the nook's profile. The leather is soft with internal stiffening to ensure it doesn't lose it's shape. The pattern and color are very "elegant". It looks the part for the not-so-cheap nook! 3) I chose this cover specifically for the built-in stand - great for the table and the plane. The angle of the stood-up nook is just right. The stand is retained with poppers, so is very firmly stowed when not in use. 4) The front cover folds back fully for when holding the nook and is retained with two magnets, one at each lower corner, keeping the cover in its place when not using the nook. The magnets are not strong enough to lift the nook, but they work fine for their purpose of keeping the leather flat and in place when laying on the table or carrying it around. No elastic straps or "won't lay flat" covers like on some of the available B&N covers. Overall, I am really pleased with this cover and would recommend it for both it's stylish looks/fit and protection. I gave it 4 stars because I feel the corners are vulnerable and should have been better protected with leather (even though I know it would be more difficult to fabricate around the corner)

Excellent product for Kindle Global (6-inch)..

by Bucky from Massachusetts, USA on 2010-06-06
Crazyondigital Brand New Stylish Sync and Charging Dock Cradle for Amazon Kindle 2. The cradle/dock IS "stylish" and well made. It has the USB sync and charging functions, and serves as a reading stand for the Kindle. Even at today's price of $12.99 + shipping, it's a bargain compared to the official $20 Kindle charging cord which only charges and syncs. (NOTE: The price jumps up and down on the CrazyOnDigital cradle. My original ordered May 28, 2010 cost $8.99. Yesterday this item went for $4.99. Today, June 6, it's $12.99. Maybe that's where the "Crazy" comes into their name!) Please note that this charging stand is only for so-called "naked Kindles" (without cover) of the Kindle 2 (U.S. or Global) variety. Bucky

Efficient and attractive

by Threeundertwo from on 2010-06-07
I highly recommend this Kindle dock. I'm very pleased with the small space my Kindle now requires on my bedside table. It actually turns my Kindle into a work of art. Nice secure fit and very stable base. Seems to be a quick charge. Shipped very quickly.

Love it !!!

by MLF from Georgia on 2010-07-02
This is a very handy gadget ! I love that I can now stand my Kindle up in this base while reading at the table. Makes it even better that it's a charging station - takes up little space. Just what I needed. Love it !

Great Cradle for Kindle 2

by Dawn Thomas from Weeki Wachee, FL on 2010-05-16
I read a post for this product and immediately ordered it. I received my item today and was surprised that the cradle was so slim . The Kindle snapped into it very easily and a blue light came on to show it was connected. I plugged it into the USB port on my laaptop and it immediately showed up as connected. I am really glad that this accessory became available. It will make connecting and charging even easier.

Great product

Great product, charges my kindle fast as lightning, looks good. Would definitely recommend to any kindle2 owner.
