Kindle for PC – Amazon beta tests a new Kindle App for PC

kpcAmazon just posted up a new Press Release today of a free application called "Kindle for PC" and you do not have to own a kindle to use it! Kindle for PC is in beta development and will be released sometime next month. You can signup here to be alerted when it will be available.

Some of the features that will be included in the Kindle for PC application are:

  • Purchase, download, and read hundreds of thousands of books available in the Kindle Store
  • Access their entire library of previously purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon’s servers for free
  • Choose from over 10 different font sizes and adjust words per line
  • Add and automatically synchronize bookmarks and last page read
  • View notes and highlights marked on Kindle and Kindle DX
  • Zoom in and out of text with a pinch of the fingers (Windows 7 users only)
  • Turn pages with a finger swipe (available in a future release for Windows 7 users)

Barnes and Nobles has had a PC eBook Reader app for quite a while, even before they announced their new Nook ebook reader. So the war goes on...
