Although this is a minor update when compared to 2.3, Amazon continues to make improvements. This release will be pushed out wirelessly to all customers but it can take up to several weeks to get and if you don't have your wireless on, you will never get it.

It is very easy to check your firmware version and updating the firmware software manually only takes a few minutes. You will need access the Amazon Kindle Software page to download the latest version.

The Amazon Kindle 2 and DX both have some undocumented games built into the device. Mine Sweeper has been included since the beginning but with the latest firmware upgrade you can now also play Gomoku. Personally, I never got into Mine Sweeper but Gomoku seems like more fun to me (although I still stink).

To access the games you will need to press and hold the following keys [ ↑ ] [ALT] [M] to bring up mindsweeoer. If you want to play GoMoku, press [G] at the mine sweeper screen to switch games. Pressing [M] again will switch back to Mine Sweeper. Press the HOME button to exit the games.

Overall, I still would rather play the paid Sudoku games by Puzux.

I carefully screened the results to provide the most accurate data due to the fact that many sellers provided inaccurate information on their listings. For example several sellers used "kindle 1" titles when they were actually second generation kindles. I also tried to remove any new items, broken items or listings that included many accessories that would distort the sales data adversely.

Conclusion

Overall, the sales of Kindle Readers are in high demand and sell for big dollars. Some sellers even sold them for a higher price than new on Amazon which really makes no sense since Amazon was including free shipping right up till Dec. 23rd. Some sellers did include leather covers and other accessories which makes it attractive to buy on eBay. I believe that the Kindle eReader is a great investment and one that you can get close to 80% back when you decide to upgrade and sell it.

This company makes fully interactive puzzles (Crosswords and Sudoku) that work inside your kindle browser.

I am a big fan of Sudoku puzzles so I purchased their assorted puzzle book. All the game books are available at the Kindle Store. The book itself gives you the instructions on how to setup your Kindle Browser and the links to access the Puzux website to play the games. You will need to create an account on their website but the benefit is you will be able to save your games so you can come back to a puzzle and pick up where you left off.

Overall, I am really impressed on how well they implemented the Sudoku gaming interface. The puzzles are challenging and you can leave yourself notes as you would with a paper version of the puzzle. You can also get hints and you can view the completed puzzle to see how well (or bad) you did. I highly recommend their products!

Amazon hasn't been sitting in the lazy chair either with the introduction of the larger Kindle DX and International Kindle 2 models.

There is no denying that all the news is creating interest and the demand for eBook readers is high this year. Just today, Amazon released a Press Release stating that November 2009 has been the best month yet for sales of Kindles. In fact the Kindle 2 has been their #1 best seller since it was released.

Even more encouraging, the Nook eBook Reader pre-order demand has surpassed B&N's expectations. Strong sales has forced them to delay the in-store releases till mid December and if you order one online today the estimated shipping date is over a month (Jan. 4th).
