Top 10 Excuses to Buy an Amazon Kindle 2

If you are thinking of buying a new Amazon Kindle 2 and are afraid to mention it to your "significant other", then this top 10 list of excuses is for you.
- This is the future of publishing - Most of us "Techies" need to have the latest and greatest gadgets and somehow being on the "bleeding edge" makes us cooler!
- It will make me read more - It is true having up to 1,500 books in the palm of your hand is a wonderful thing but you may not want to mention the 10+ books sitting at home that you still haven't read.
- I can get lots of Free books - No doubt there is a ton of free resources and books available online but don't forget that the Public Library has been around long before the Internet ever existed.
- I get Internet access for free - A very useful feature in a pinch...just don't agree to drop your home's high-speed Internet access.
- Doing your share to save the planet - A noble idea for sure and it has to start with someone...just hope they agree it's you.
- It will make me smarter - At least with the built-in dictionary you won't have to ask stupid questions.
- The discreet reader - No more embarrassing moments when reading a trashy romance novel or Idiot's guide in public.
- It will save money at the eye doctor's office - As you get older you can make the words on your Kindle bigger. Thus creating less strain on your eyes. Leave the Apple iPod/iPhone Kindle app for the kids!
- More quality time together - Hey, talk is cheap. Now you can read with one hand and hold your partner with the other.
- Bribe Them - If all else fails, tell your partner you will buy them a Kindle too!
Disclaimer: Please do not hold me responsible for any negative outcome that may arise in conversation in regards to the excuses outlined above. After all, I am now divorced and didn't have to justify my Kindle 2 purchase to anyone!

Hi Michele, #5 is one of my favorites too. Someone on the Amazon discussion board suggested a #11 – I’m Stimulating the Economy.

Personsally I got mine for a very completely different reason. I hate trying to snuggle in bed with a book. it hurts my hands. The kindle is so compact that its easier to lay in bed snuggle down and relax. I dont have to hold the book open, hold the night light up and change it around when i move postitions. i dont have to worry about my hands shaking and loosing my spot. its just easier all the way around.

I used #2, #3, #5 and now #11, but I also got my wife one as well (#10), which is highly recommended and can improve your odds dramatically. My personal best excuse has been #12 – I’m Writing a Book About the Kindle, which helped justify getting a K2 to accompany our two K1s. I think we’re finished for now.

If I did have to justify the purchase now I would use #2,#5, #10 & I need one to build this website.
